At this current level the isolator stops being an accessory and becomes part of the power architecture. The MT055 carries 600 amps continuously, 800 amps intermittently, and 2500 amps during engine or motor starting, on systems up to 48 volts. It is intended for electric-drive craft, large lithium banks, thruster and windlass installations, and commercial vehicles where a small switch would simply be the weakest link.
Operation remains two positions, ON and OFF, with a hard stop at each. Simplicity matters here: a large switch that cannot be misread is safer than a selector with extra detents, particularly when the person isolating the system is not the person who installed it.
Everything about the installation is heavier too. Cable lugs are bigger, torque values are higher, and the surface it mounts to must carry real weight. The notes below focus on those details, because at 48 volts and several hundred amps, the termination is the part that fails first.
| Continuous | 600A DC — sustained load while drive or charging systems run |
|---|---|
| Intermittent | 800A DC — short bursts for thrusters, pumps or motor inrush |
| Starting | 2500A DC — engine or motor start, seconds only |
| System voltage | 48V DC |
| Positions | ON-OFF, two-position rotary |
Each figure has a purpose and none of them substitutes for another. Running an 800A intermittent load continuously will cook the contacts; treating 2500A as a working rating will do the same. Size the installation against the continuous number and use the other two as short-duration allowances.

|---|---|
| After first week | Re-torque both stud nuts; look for heat discolouration |
| Monthly in service | Feel studs after a loaded run; clean any salt film off the housing |
| Season start | Cycle ON-OFF, inspect lugs for corrosion, verify insulation on heavy cable |
| Any repair | Replace cable with damaged lugs; never simply retighten a heat-affected joint |
Yes, that is a primary application, provided the controller is shut down before the switch is operated.
Size for 600A continuous with margin, then confirm the lug fits the stud diameter.
The starting figure is 2500A DC for a few seconds. Cable and terminations must be able to carry that burst.
This model uses a plain rotary dial. Key-operated and lockout variants can be quoted separately.
Larger frames and contact sets can be produced against your requirement or drawing, agreed before production.
