Product Description
MT017 Compact ON-OFF Battery Isolator Switch — 150A

Not every DC installation needs a heavy switch. The MT017 is built for the middle ground: small and mid-size boats, camper electrical boards, and utility vehicles where the total load sits around 150 amps and panel space is tight. It gives that circuit a proper master cut-off without adding bulk or extra positions to explain.

The dial travels between ON and OFF only, with a defined stop at each end. Set it one way and the battery is live; set it the other way and the entire downstream run is dead. That is the whole control logic, which is exactly what a charter operator or a rental fleet wants to hand to a customer.

Internally the current path is copper, and the studs are sized to take standard crimped ring lugs. The moulded body carries a flat flange, so the unit can be screwed to a console face, a locker wall or a steel bracket without any extra adapter plate.

Fits These Circuits
  • Small craft electrical boards — instruments, pumps, lighting and a compact fridge.
  • Camper and van conversions — leisure board isolation with a single master switch.
  • Utility and 4x4 vehicles — accessory fuse block, work lights and compressor feeds.
  • Trailers and yard plant — battery isolation before maintenance or storage.
Product Characteristics
  • Two-position rotary action — ON and OFF with hard stops, no intermediate state.
  • 150A continuous rating — sized for mid-range loads rather than heavy cranking duty.
  • 12V–24V DC window — one part covers both common small-craft and vehicle voltages.
  • Copper conductors — keeps resistance and stud temperature low through long charge cycles.
  • Space-saving body — flat flange mounting suits crowded panels and shallow lockers.
  • Simple face legend — ON and OFF readable at a glance, identifiable by feel in the dark.

Before You Order
  • Add up the continuous draw on the circuit — keep the total at or below 150A.
  • Confirm the system voltage is 12V or 24V DC; the unit is not specified above that.
  • Check panel depth and cable bend radius behind the mounting face.
  • Match cable cross-section and lug size to the 150A figure before installing.
  • Decide whether a master cut only is enough, or whether two separate banks must be switched.
Mounting Walk-Through
  1. Disconnect the battery negative lead and prove the circuit dead with a meter.
  2. Hold the switch against the panel, check the dial swings freely and cables can reach without strain.
  3. Mark the flange holes, drill, and fix the body down evenly.
  4. Battery positive to one stud, distribution or fuse block feed to the other.
  5. Crimp ring lugs on every cable end and tighten both nuts firmly.
  6. Operate once with no load, then reconnect and check stud temperature under normal current.
Routine Care

Cycle the dial through its travel a few times each season to keep the mechanism free, check nut torque, and look for salt film or corrosion at the lugs. Set the switch to OFF before storage or service so no parasitic drain can flatten the battery. Cables showing heat damage or green corrosion should be replaced, not retightened.

Frequent Questions
Will it start a petrol outboard?

Typical outboard cranking sits comfortably inside the 150A continuous rating when the cable is correctly sized.

Can I use it with two batteries?

Only if they are wired as one bank. For separate banks you need a selector switch rather than this ON-OFF model.

Does it work on a 24V truck?

Yes, the rated window covers 12V and 24V DC systems.

How is it secured?

Flange mounting through the housing holes, with the dial facing the operator side.

Can the dial layout be changed?

Custom sequences and housings can be produced from your drawing or sample, confirmed before production.
