9mm Hole Marine Battery Switch

A disconnect switch fails a fit test for one of four reasons, and all four are dimensions. The MT150 is a 250A brass blade battery disconnect for DC 12V and 24V systems, measuring 93 x 80 x 30 mm with 9 mm fixing holes - so this page is written as a fitting check rather than a sales page.

If those numbers clear your battery box, the rest is straightforward: brass blade, plastic base, manual lever, two terminals. If they do not, no amount of rating will help, and it is better to know before you drill.

Reading the Four Numbers

  • 93 mm - the long side — This sets how much room the body and the lever need end to end. If the box wall is closer than this, the blade will not swing clear.
  • 80 mm - the footprint — The width the base sits on. Cable lugs hang off the terminals beyond the base, so the usable gap is larger than 80 mm in practice.
  • 30 mm - the depth — The body thickness behind the mounting face. This is the number that decides whether the lid still closes over the terminals.
  • 9 mm - the fixing hole — Two holes at 9 mm take an M8 bolt with clearance. That is standard hardware, not a special order, and it lets you shim the base if the panel is uneven.

Bolting It Down

  1. M8 bolts, washers both sides — A washer under the head and under the nut spreads the load across the plastic base instead of digging into it.
  2. Snug, then a quarter turn — The base is plastic. Tighten until the washer bites, then a fraction more. A brass stud crushed into a cracked base is a warranty claim, not a repair.
  3. Flat mounting surface — If the panel is uneven, shim it. A base pulled down onto a curve will crack between the fixings within a season.
  4. Cycle the lever after bolting — Full open, full close. If the body is distorted by uneven bolt load, the blade will drag - and it will show immediately.

Cable and Lug Selection

  • Ring lugs sized for M8 — Match the lug bore to the stud, not to the hole in the blade. A lug that rattles on the stud heats up.
  • Cable by current, not by habit — Size the cable for the continuous load, not the 250A maximum. The maximum is there for short bursts.
  • Fuse downstream — The switch disconnects; it does not protect. Put the fuse close to the supply end of the run.
  • Support the cable — A heavy cable hanging off a brass stud will work it loose. Clip the run within 150 mm of the terminal.

Where It Fits

  • Beside the battery — Shortest unswitched cable run, easiest access for the lever, and the fuse can sit within sight.
  • Under a seat box — The 30 mm depth suits shallow cavities, but check the lever swing against the seat frame before drilling.
  • In a battery locker — A plastic base on a locker shelf does not need an insulated bracket, which keeps the install simple in tight lockers.
  • On a trailer or plant — A visible blade is easy to check at handover, which is why yards use them for stored equipment.

Ordering — No MOQ

MT150, knife blade battery disconnect switch, brass blade on a plastic base, 250A rated at DC 12V/24V, 9 mm fixing holes, 93 x 80 x 30 mm. There is no minimum order quantity: single units, samples and mixed containers are all accepted, with pricing quoted against quantity and packing. Standard production takes 30 days from deposit, T/T or Western Union, 30% down and the balance before shipment. Carton packed; pallet lots quoted separately.

Buyer Questions

Are the 9 mm holes for the cables or the mounting?
They are the fixing holes through the base for M8 bolts. Cable connections are made on the brass studs.
Does 93 x 80 x 30 mm include the lever?
It is the body envelope. Allow extra room for the lever to swing fully open - if you send us the box depth we will tell you the clearance needed.
Will 250A start my engine?
For a small petrol engine the maximum covers the starter draw. For larger diesels, choose a switch rated above the cranking current.
Suitable for 24V systems?
Yes, the rating is DC 12V and 24V. Check that the circuit current stays within 250A.
What is the minimum order?
No MOQ on the MT150. Single units, samples and mixed containers are accepted, priced against quantity and packing.

Send your box dimensions and cable size and we will confirm the MT150 fit, packing and freight. No minimum quantity required.
